OPTIONS

ITINERARY

Welcome to Milan!
Included VIP meet-and-greet and transfer from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) to our lovely, luxury hotel in the heart of the historic center,  steps from the Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Explore independently, then meet your fellow travelers and your Concierge at our welcome happy hour. For members up for an evening out, we’ll explore and savor some of the local fare together.

Milan (B)
Guided walking tour through the elegant Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, followed by priority entry to the Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral). Discover the stories, symbolism, and centuries of history behind one of the largest churches in the world, whose construction began in 1386 and was only completed in the 20th century. For those who are willing, an optional ascent to the cathedral terraces offers some of the very best panoramic views over Milan’s historic skyline.

Milan to Bologna via Parma (B,L)
After breakfast at our hotel, we depart for Parma, heartland of Italy’s celebrated Prosciutto di Parma, where we enjoy an introduction to this iconic cured ham over a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, we continue on to vibrant Bologna, long nicknamed La Grassa (“the Fat One”) for its rich culinary traditions and outstanding gastronomy.

Modena in Depth (B,L)
Following breakfast, we journey into the heart of Emilia-Romagna, arriving in Modena for an immersive gourmet experience. Delve inside a traditional Parmigiano Reggiano dairy to witness the artisanal production of this iconic cheese, then continue to an authentic acetaia, where Modena’s “black gold”, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar aged for years in wooden barrels, matures in fragrant cellar lofts. Our visit culminates in expert-led tastings and a lingering, wine-accompanied lunch showcasing the classic flavors of Emilia-Romagna’s celebrated food valley.

Bologna at Leisure (B)
We begin with breakfast at our hotel before enjoying a full day at leisure in Bologna, a UNESCO‑listed city of endless porticoes and rich culinary traditions. Spend the day soaking up the atmosphere of the vibrant historic center with new foodie friends, browsing artisan boutiques and colorful markets, or simply lingering over espresso and gelato in lively piazzas as you wander at your own pace.

Bologna – Cooking Class (B,L)
After breakfast, we transfer to the elegant countryside estate of Palazzo di Varignana, set amid rolling hills and olive groves near Bologna. Here, a hands-on cooking class in a professional show kitchen invites us to master the art of Cucina Emiliana. We’ll learn the art of rolling fresh egg pasta and crafting regional specialties, before sitting down together to savor the seasonal lunch we’ve prepared, paired with local flavors and estate views.

Scenic Transfer from Bologna to Stresa on Lago Maggiore (B)
We enjoy breakfast at the hotel before our transfer to Stresa and our “palace” for the last 3 days of our delicious journey. Set on the lakeside promenade, Hotel Regina Palace is a historic 1908 grand hotel that still exudes fin‑de‑siècle glamour, with Art Nouveau interiors, chandeliers, and classic Italian décor overlooking Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. Get ready to enjoy extensive leisure facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, a full spa and wellness area, tennis courts, and beautifully manicured gardens and terraces that open onto the lakefront.

Stresa (B)
After breakfast, we step aboard our private boat in Stresa and skim across the waters of Lake Maggiore to Isola Bella, where a guided visit reveals the opulent baroque halls of Palazzo Borromeo and its spectacular, ship‑like terraces cascading with statues, fountains, and Italianate gardens. Afterwards, enjoy free time to lose ourselves in the narrow lanes and small waterfront squares of Isola dei Pescatori, a tiny former fishing village where an enticing array of seafood restaurants awaits (at your own expense). We then reboard our private boat for a leisurely scenic cruise, gliding past the lush, exotic gardens of Isola Madre and along the verdant lake shores before returning to our lakeside palace hotel.

Stresa at Leisure & Farewell Events (B, D)
Savor the extensive breakfast at your own pace this morning, a day of rest and relaxation. Make the most of our palace hotel and its many amenities, relax and connect with new friends, or simply unwind by the lakefront promenade. When you’re ready to explore, wander into Stresa’s nearby historic center, where narrow cobbled lanes, flower‑decked terraces, and inviting cafés lead to delicatessens, boutiques, and artisan shops—perfect for sampling local delicacies and finding that just‑right souvenir to bring home.

Morning Transfer from Stresa to Milan’s Malpensa Airport (B)
Breakfast and private, group transfer Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). Safe travels and we look forward to our next adventure together!

We chose this week because it allows for an extra vacation day on Monday, September 6 due to the Labor Day holiday in the US.

Moreover, foodie travelers choose Northern Italy at this time for sun‑kissed late‑summer days, emerging early‑autumn flavors, thinner crowds, and a more relaxed, value‑friendly experience than peak summer.

Beautiful late‑summer, early‑autumn landscapes

  • Vineyards and rolling hills in regions such as Emilia Romagna and Piedmont begin to shift toward harvest season, with golden light that’s perfect for food and wine photography.

  • Lakeside areas like Stresa on Lake Maggiore feel warm but not hot, with clear skies that make al fresco dining and evening strolls especially inviting.

Comfortable, quieter travel

  • Daytime temperatures in Northern Italian cities such as Milan and Bologna are typically warm but comfortable for walking tours and market visits, often ranging from the mid‑70s to low‑80s°F (around 24–28°C).

  • The heaviest summer crowds have started to fade, so historic centers, trattorias, and popular attractions feel less congested, and there is often better availability and value on flights and hotels than in July and early August.

Rich culinary and cultural experiences

  • Late August and early September are ideal for culinary travel in Northern Italy, with seasonal specialties, local food festivals, and winery visits highlighting regional ingredients at their peak.

  • You can pair guided tastings, hands‑on cooking or market experiences, and leisurely multi‑course meals with time in art‑filled cities and lakeside towns, all without the intense heat or pace of high season.

Most airlines typically allow one checked bag up to 50 pounds for a fee, plus one carry-on bag and a personal item such as a purse or briefcase—please verify current airline policies for exact rules and fees.

Due to limited vehicle storage, each member is permitted one checked suitcase (maximum combined dimensions of 62 inches) and one small carry-on bag. For daily excursions, especially when visiting alpine sites, a small daypack or backpack is recommended instead of a purse for comfort and practicality.

Practical packing list tailored to early autumn in Northern Italy.

We suggest that you have a physical check-up before your trip, and discuss the type of trip in which you are participating with your physician. Many large cities have a travel clinic or health center with doctors and nurses that are experts in travel immunization.

  • Health authorities typically recommend that travelers be current on routine immunizations such as tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, MMR, polio, and influenza, and some travelers may be advised to carry prescription medicines based on their medical history.

  • There are no specific additional vaccines legally required for Italy for travelers arriving directly from the U.S., Canada, or most of Europe, other than any globally standard requirements that may be in force at the time of travel.

You and your physician may access much more, very detailed health information for travelers (including tips on staying healthy while traveling) on the CDC website. Click their “Traveler’s Health” link or call toll-free 24-hours at 1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636). Visit WHO (World Health Organization) for more specific information.

Italy uses 230 volts and 50 Hz as its standard electrical current.

You will need a converter in addition to an adapter to step down the electrical current from 230 to 110 (US); without proper conversion, non dual‑voltage appliances may be damaged. Outlets in Italy are primarily Type C, F, and L, so most dual‑voltage travel electronics (such as phone chargers and laptops) will work with an appropriate plug adapter.

Some devices are dual voltage and will be labeled on the back of the appliance; if the voltage is shown as a range like 110V–220V or 100–240V, the device can handle AC voltage outlets around the world and is considered a “dual‑voltage” or “world‑wide voltage” device. If in doubt, protect your device, replacing it can cost many times more than a simple adapter or converter, and nothing is worth negatively impacting your vacation.

Travel insurance is not required for entry into Italy by U.S. citizens for short-term visits (less than 90 days). However, it is highly recommended since U.S. health insurance generally does not cover medical care abroad and travel insurance provides important protection for medical emergencies including evacuation.

We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel protection to help safeguard their trip investment and cover unexpected events (such as medical emergencies, evacuation, trip interruption or cancellation, and lost or delayed baggage). After you reserve your vacation, you will receive information and a quote from Travel Guard regarding optional travel insurance; you may also obtain coverage from any licensed insurance provider of your choice. If you choose not to purchase travel insurance, you understand and agree that you are solely responsible for all expenses and logistical arrangements arising from any unforeseen circumstances during or related to your trip, and that Singles Travel International cannot serve as your insurance representative or claims liaison and will not be liable for such costs.
When selecting a travel insurance policy, we recommend, at a minimum, coverage for medical expenses (including emergency evacuation and repatriation), personal liability, trip cancellation and interruption, and loss or delay of luggage and personal effects. The official currency of Italy is the euro (EUR).

Using money in Italy

  • Cash is widely accepted, but Italy is very card‑friendly; credit and debit cards (especially Visa and Mastercard) are commonly used in hotels, shops, and restaurants.

  • ATMs are easy to find in cities and towns, and withdrawing euros from a bank ATM usually provides a better rate than exchanging large amounts of cash at airport kiosks or hotels.

Exchange rates and practical tips

  • Exchange rates between EUR and USD/other currencies fluctuate, so it is best to check a reliable financial or currency‑converter site close to your travel dates.

  • Some tourist businesses may accept foreign cash (such as USD), but change is typically given in euros and the conversion rate is usually less favorable than paying directly in euros with a card.

Questions and comments after you have reserved your vacation are addressed promptly when you send a message to us at service@singlestravelintl.com.

Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In an emergency after hours, please call 877-765-6874 and press 0 (zero). One of our team members will call you back as soon as possible.

We recommend that you meet the members of the Singles Travel International Community on the private WhatsApp Group Chat once you receive the invite from the Get Ready email after you make your reservation. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation and to start making new friends. For the best results, join early, even if not intending to socialize right away, so that you have access to all of the conversations.

Knowing who’s on the trip in advance makes socializing before and during your vacation easier and more fun.

Your “Final Vacation Details & Meetup Information” including transportation and how to meet up with the group will be sent to you via email 21 days prior to the trip start date.

Right before you depart, we host a virtual Meet & Greet with your travel companions and your personal concierge.

You’ll receive automatic reminders via email and text for each event.  Be sure you opt in for all communications so that you don’t miss out on anything!

Text YES to us at 833-479-1857 if you are not yet receiving our text message reminders.

Internet Connection
Most travelers may count on reliable internet at our luxury hotels and are able to stay connected on tour via hotel Wi‑Fi, public Wi‑Fi, or a mobile data plan.

Wi‑Fi at our hotels:

  • Luxury hotels in major Italian cities like Milan and Bologna, as well as lakeside destinations such as Stresa, almost always provide complimentary Wi‑Fi in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Speeds are generally suitable for email, social media, messaging apps, and basic video calls, though performance can vary at peak times.

Wi‑Fi while out touring:

  • In Milan and Bologna, you will find free or guest Wi‑Fi in many cafes, restaurants, and some train stations, plus occasional municipal networks such as “WiFi Italia” in public areas.
  • Public networks are convenient for quick checks of maps or messages but may be slower and less secure, so a personal data plan is recommended if you need reliable navigation or work access.

Using your mobile phone:

  • If your carrier supports international roaming in Italy, you may be able to use your existing plan; check rates and any daily roaming packages before departure, as data costs and fair‑use limits vary.
  • For heavier data use, many travelers choose an Italian or Europe‑wide eSIM or local SIM, which can provide several gigabytes of data for a one‑ to two‑week trip at a reasonable cost.

All countries you visit have laws restricting the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property, and products made from protected or endangered species (such as ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, certain corals, and some feathers). The United States also prohibits or restricts the import of many of these same items, and travelers may face confiscation, fines, or other penalties for attempting to export or import prohibited goods.

Upon return to the United States, your baggage is subject to inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Duty‑free exemptions, including the value of goods you may bring back and the permitted quantities of alcohol and tobacco, are subject to change and may vary based on your travel itinerary and personal circumstances. If you plan to purchase souvenirs or high‑value items, retain all purchase receipts; however, CBP may question receipts that appear inconsistent with the apparent value of the goods.

For the most up‑to‑date information on regulations, restricted items, and duty‑free allowances, consult the official U.S. Customs and Border Protection website before you travel. Click here to learn more.

For questions about benefits, limitations, exclusions, or claims, please contact the insurance provider directly, as all coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of the policy issued to you.

If you have any questions, Travel Guard professional, expert agents are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call us, if you have not received your quote within 3 days, or CLICK HERE to go directly to Travel Guard and request a policy quote. It only takes a few minutes.

Questions and comments after you have reserved your vacation are addressed promptly when you send a message to us at service@singlestravelintl.com.

Our vacations cater to singles in their 50s, 60s and 70s but you will often meet singles ranging anywhere from 50-75. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee ratios or ages.

We recommend that you meet the members of the Singles Travel International Community on the private WhatsApp Group Chat once you receive the invite from the Get Ready email after you make your reservation. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation and to start making new friends.

Knowing who’s on the trip in advance makes socializing before and during your vacation easier and more fun.

Yes! Our program for 50+ singles also includes an invitation to a private WhatsApp Group Chat where you may start meeting your fellow travelers and make new friends immediately.  In addition, we host a virtual Meet & Greet with your travel companions before you depart. You’ll receive automatic reminders via email and text for each event.  Be sure you opt in for all communications so that you don’t miss out on anything! Text YES to us at 833-479-1857 if you are not yet receiving our text message reminders.

Singles Travel International is a vacation event company that plans singles events and markets our events at our expense to create a “singles only” experience. We do not allow guests to join the group unless the reservation has been made by Singles Travel International. Our policy is firm for tours and cruises, as well as pre and post trip hotel stays. Members and friends that “show up” will not be allowed to participate.

If you would like to extend your stay, our dedicated luxury travel specialist is available to help you add extra nights and customize your time in Italy so you make the most of your visit. Call us at 877-SOLO-TRIP (877-765-6874) or email service@singlestravelintl.com.

Arrival Airport transfer is INCLUDED with our tour.
Watch for our “Get Ready” email series that begin approximately 75 days prior to departure to provide your flight details using our Fit & Willing to Travel Commitment form. Once that is complete, we’ll be able to reserve your complimentary  transportation.

Please help us serve you best by completing the Fit & Willing form early.

In order to accommodate singles from all over the world, our tours and cruises are priced as land/cruise only. Therefore, airfare is additional.  Singles Travel International has been a licensed ticketing agency since 1980 and has low negotiated fares, especially in Business Class.

August 28, 2027 – Arrive any time in Milan, Italy (MXP) to participate in our group welcome event.

September 6, 2027 – Schedule your flight to depart from Milan, Italy (MXP) after 1:00 pm.

Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

Our tour does not include airfare,  lunches and dinners except those listed in our day to day itinerary. You are responsible for alcoholic beverages (except when included in Singles Travel International events), incidentals such as laundry and phone calls, plus gratuities to Singles Travel International Concierge ($15 per day) and local guides. Customary gratuities for local guides in Milan, Bologna, and Stresa are generally in the range of €5–€10 per person for a half‑day tour and €10–€20 per person for a full‑day tour, depending on the length and quality of the experience.

It has been our experience since 1993, that the best possible quality of service is achieved when our Singles Travel International Concierge Team is compensated by tips from our delighted members. This is their best incentive to make your vacation an exceptional experience.  You will have an opportunity to reward your Concierge at the end of your tour. It is customary to tip, but of course, gratuities are at your discretion and are greatly appreciated for a job well done!

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our members on every trip sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. Since 1993, we have been perfecting the singles vacation experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day.

From the moment you arrive at the hotel, our Singles Travel International Concierge is waiting to meet you at our Hospitality Desk or Welcome Event.

Our affordable Premium Memberships allows solo travelers the ability to have Your Own Space™ for a lot less so that you never have to share. Review the special Premium Member Savings by clicking the ⓘ next to the “Add to Cart” button when searching your options on each trip page. You may join at the same time that you purchase your vacation or click here to learn more and purchase your membership.
