Sailing in the Caribbean over the New Year’s holiday…. I mean SAILING, not cruising. A casual singles cruise, feeling the wind in our hair and the sun on our skin; watching the sails unfold to capture the gusts! This is what our group of singles experienced for New Year’s 2022!

Our intimate group of 10 was composed of some seasoned Singles Travel International travelers as well as some brand-new adventurers! They hailed from as far as Oregon to Costa Rica to Atlanta! But they all came together as one lively and adventurous group for 8 days!

We celebrated Christmas together at our beautiful seaside Sint Maarten hotel – with a 4-course Christmas dinner. Then we embarked aboard the majestic Star Flyer clipper ship on December 26. We spent 7 days aboard this magnificent sailing vessel, calling on St. Barths, St. Kitts, Barbuda, Nevis and Antigua. Some of our group went tubing down a river, some went on a chocolate tour, and we all enjoyed the sunshine on the various white-sand or black volcanic or pink shell beaches!!

Our Singles Travel International “Signature Experience” was a half-day private catamaran tour from St. Barths – and wow was it special!! Just our small group on a luxurious catamaran – complete with complimentary soft drinks, water, beer and Caribbean rum punch! The crew also supplied us with fresh fruit and cheese. We sailed along the coast from Gustavia to Colombier, where we snorkeled with sea turtles!

In the evenings, the crew of the Star Flyer kept us entertained, as they always do! We danced, we played games and even had a festive Pirate Night! For New Year’s Eve, we enjoyed a Captain’s Dinner, a crew talent show and then we rang in the new year with a Champagne toast and a light show on the ship’s imposing sails!

Our group came together as strangers and left as a group of friends, who I’m certain with travel together again! And what better way to begin a new year than with new experiences and new friends?!
