Singles Cruise to Spicy Morocco, Spain, and the Canary Islands!

In November 24, Singles Travel International cruised from Malaga, Spain to Morocco to the Canary Islands!  Cruising is always a great way to travel.  You get to visit different ports but only have to unpack your suitcase once!

For those members who signed up for a two-night pre-cruise option, we had a lovely evening of sweet wine, dinner, and gelato!  (very European).  The next morning, they were also given a private tour of Malaga, Spain.  Our tour guide, David, was so excited to show us his beautiful town and tell us stories of the port city, that our 3-hour walking tour turned into a 4.5-hour tour!

Once everyone arrived in Spain, we all partook in the best Malaga has to offer:  sweet wine!

The next day, we all boarded the Star Clipper – a 4-mast schooner.  This ship is 360 feet long with masts 226 feet high!  There were only 104 people on this sailing and 13 Singles Travel International members were part of it!  A sailaway party lit up the sails as we proceeded to our first port!

Our first stop was Gilbraltar, UK!  Many of us went on the shore excursion to the Rock and St. Michaels Cave.  We got to see Europe’s only native monkeys.  One even jumped on to the back of one of our Single Travelers!!!

Over night, we crossed 36 miles to Morocco!  Our first port in Africa was Tangier!  We got to explore the market, drink mint tea and somebody even got to ride a camel!

That night, we had an exclusive event for Singles Travel International:  White Night!  We donned are brightest whites and illuminated the Mediterranean Sea!

After crossing the Strait of Gilbraltar again, we returned to Spain!  This time in Cadiz, we got to explore the pedestrian only zone with its cathedrals and flamenco dancers!

We spent the day at sea and had an exclusive cocktail party on the main deck just for Singles Travel International members!

Crossing again, we returned to Morocco.  This time we traveled inland to Marrakech We saw a mosque, the palace, the market, and snakes!  For lunch, we were treated to an amazing display of belly dancing!

To make it over to the Canary Islands, we had to cross a small part of the Atlantic Ocean.  Although there wasn’t any wind, the ocean swells were high – about 12 feet!  The dining room was rock and rolling and wine was flung around! We celebrated another theme night – Morroco!  While some went with a more traditional look, others went with something much more modern!

Back on solid land, it was nice to walk around Puerto del Rosario.  Our next stop in the Canary Islands was Lanzarote!  Some Singles Travel International Members took this opportunity to climb the mast to the Crow’s Nest of the Star Clipper.  Good advice:  Don’t look down!  Later in the afternoon, we went ashore.  It was a nice leisurely day walking around the port.

Our last stop was Las Palmas.  We stayed at the beautiful Bull Reina Isabel hotel located right on the beach!  The weather was perfect to walk along the beach and enjoy solid land!

It’s always exciting to visit new places and it’s wonderful to travel with old and new friends and be together!
