Patagonia Cruise for Solo Travelers Over 50
Our luxury expedition, Patagonia for solo travelers over 50, was carefully orchestrated by our expert team to maximize time in a breathtaking region. It includes Iguazú Falls, Patagonia, and Easter Island. Altogether, making this a true bucket list vacation for singles over 50!
Luxury Pre‑Stay at Iguazú Falls
To begin this journey, several members flew from Buenos Aires to Iguazú and spent the weekend at the five‑star Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, the sole hotel inside Brazil’s Iguazú Falls National Park. From the moment we arrived, our members felt like VIPs with a private guide and exclusive views of the cascades and lush rainforest right outside their private room window.
Our luxury small-group pre-cruise package allowed active solo travelers over 50 to explore the trails, take boat rides close to the cascades, and enjoy the hotel’s exceptional hospitality with exclusive access. As a result, the experience at Iguazú Falls was both relaxing and unforgettable, perfectly setting the stage for the upcoming voyage.
After such an amazing experience, we flew back to Buenos Aires to start our next segment, a Patagonia cruise for solo travelers over 50.

From Ushuaia to Santiago on the Hybrid Expedition Vessel, MS Roald Amundsen
Next, our group boarded the HX MS Roald Amundsen in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city. Named after legendary polar explorer Roald Amundsen, the ship is built for discovery and blends comfort with modern sustainability. Against a backdrop of snow‑capped mountains and rugged coastline, Ushuaia offered an atmospheric send‑off into the wild Southern Ocean. Here we explored the charming town and soaked in the sense of adventure that defines this gateway to Antarctica.

Historic Landmark & Bucket List Stop
Sailing from Ushuaia, our first stop was Cape Horn, still considered one of the most hazardous sailing routes in the world. For this reason, rounding the Horn is a momentous occasion for any seafarer. Due to frequent storms, the MS Roald Amundsen had not landed on Cape Horn in five years. Consequently this stop was just as memorable for the crew as for our members.
Later that day, climbing into the Zodiac boats, we set our sights on shore, surrounded by towering waves, swirling winds, and the symbolic monument at the edge of the continent. There we met a Chilean Navy soldier and his family, who live year‑round at the lighthouse, maintaining its beacon and facing Patagonia’s fierce elements. Hearing their stories and witnessing their isolated yet steadfast life became a highlight of our Patagonia cruise for solo travelers over 50 and offered a rare glimpse of human presence at this remote edge of the world.

Fire & Ice!
Next, our port of call was Puerto Williams, Chile, recognized as the southernmost town in the world. Today, Puerto Williams is a quiet gateway to remote wilderness and the pristine landscapes of Tierra del Fuego. Our group walked along the waterfront, admired views across the Beagle Channel, and learned about the unique culture and history of the Yaghan people. Several members also chose a six‑mile loop hike into the countryside. Meanwhile, others enjoyed the waterfront views. In the end, such a tranquil atmosphere and rugged scenery left a lasting impression of Patagonia.

From there, our adventures took us through narrow straits to Pia Glacier, where some members kayaked and walked near the ice itself.

Heading north, Puerto Natales welcomed us with its colorful waterfront and relaxed atmosphere. In contrast to the tiny settlements we visited earlier, this port offered a colorful waterfront and relaxed atmosphere. As the jumping‑off point for Torres del Paine National Park, many members were tempted to join shore excursions to see Patagonia’s granite spires, azure lakes, and abundant wildlife. Some even spotted guanacos in the snow.

Fjords & Puerto Eden & Tortel
Our journey continued into the Chilean fjords and the isolated settlement of Puerto Eden. Surrounded by dense rainforest and jagged peaks, this tiny village is home to the indigenous Kawésqar people. As we walked the boardwalks that link each home, once again we experienced a way of life deeply tied to the elements—remote, resilient, and captivating.
Tortel offered one of the most unique stops on our cruise. We arrived to traditional dance and plates of warm empanadas. By contract, this picturesque village is famous for wooden walkways that replace streets and wind between houses, hills, and lush forest.

Colorful & Charming
Further along the coast, colorful Castro charmed us with its storybook stilt houses, timeworn wooden churches, and easygoing maritime soul.
Castro, Chile welcomed us with rainbow palafitos perched on the tides and historic wooden churches that echo the island’s seafaring spirit. There, we wandered markets and viewpoints, savoring Chiloé’s quiet coastal charm. Along the way, we even popped into the home of a kind local who came to our rescue when we needed a quick rest stop.
Finally, our final cruise port, Valparaiso, provided a vibrant contrast to the remote wilderness we had explored. This UNESCO World Heritage city is a feast for the senses, with steep hills, colorful murals, historic funiculars, and a lively bohemian spirit.

From Chilean Fjords to Easter Island: A Journey for Singles Over 50
Even after all these highlights, the journey was not over yet. In the final chapter of this adventure, the last segment took us to Easter Island, where our members stayed at the luxurious, all‑inclusive Explora Lodge Easter island. Each morning, we set out on guided expeditions, standing in awe before the legendary Moai statues, trekking volcanic landscapes, and mingling with the island’s free‑roaming horses.

Overall, the Heart of Patagonia cruise for singles over 50 delivered adrenaline, surprise, awe, and wonder. Best of all, our expedition cruise stayed relaxed and comfortable while still delivering the elevated touches solo travelers over 50 expect.
Together with HX Cruises, Singles Travel International hosted a journey that opened a remote world to our members, offering companionship all along the way.
