Life Changing Experiences in Vietnam & Cambodia with a 5-Star Flair!
Wow, wow, wow! Our recent program called Vietnam, Cambodia & Mekong Singles River Cruise and Tour has hit the charts as the number one singles vacation in our recent history. Creating exceptional and life-changing experiences for Singles over 50 is no easy task. Here are some of the special features that make this particular singles vacation a five star experience.
Cultural Immersion
Vietnam and Cambodia are relatively undiscovered nations for North American travelers. Being able to stay in the heart of the major cities as well as the small villages, gave us a personal, one to one relationship with the locals. Experiences ranged from our individual conversations with a Cyclo driver, hearing the gripping stories of Kmer Rouge survivors, meeting female entrepreneurs to learn how they succeed, encouraging young Girl Scouts, interacting with a traditional boat maker at a Mekong Rover village, receiving a blessing from Buddhist monks and helping young students learn to read English at the small village of Angkor Ban, an absolute highlight for everyone in the group. The children everywhere welcomed us with smiles and a wave!
Whenever language presented a challenge, we relied on Google Translate to help us communicate. We recommend that you use it whenever you travel to a non-English-speaking destination. Our five star team is on hand to help you learn to communicate while on vacation with us.
Gourmet Cuisine
Let’s face it, a big part of a vacation experience is the food and Singles over 50 are typically self proclaimed foodies. But even if you’re not, the variety of cuisine available in Southeast Asia is abundant. What are you looking for? Gourmet Western bites or ready to experiment with new flavors? The opportunity is present.
During our program, members were able to sample many local dishes. We participated in a hands-on cooking class in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) at KOTO, a school designed to elevate underprivileged kids, teaching them skills for jobs in the Food, Beverage and Restaurant business. We learned to make three local dishes (Fried Spring Rolls and Pho plus a green mango salad) which were devoured as we enjoyed them together for lunch. Everyone proudly received a certificate of completion. Breakfasts at our 5-star properties were among the most varied and delicious as you’ll ever experience. I particularly loved having Pho for breakfast and loved the freshly baked chocolate croissants!
Companionship
The most amazing benefits of traveling as a group of singles over 50 include the camaraderie and development of lifelong friendships.
It may seem scary the first time around, but once you meet our helpful, friendly staff and understand quickly that all of your needs will be well taken care of, it’s easy to relax; just show up and have a great time.
During our Southeast Asia program many new relationships formed, and it was beautiful to see the dynamic unfold. Angie and Carol enjoyed meeting each other so much that they reserved 2 future trips together based on mutual interests that they discovered on this trip.
This is truly what makes our hearts beat at Singles Travel International.
5-Star Accommodations
Having a comfortable bed is just the beginning. There’s so much more; Western standards air conditioning (nice and chilly), your choice of pillow, high thread count (soft, crisp, clean white) sheets, every amenity (less to pack), convenient USB/USC outlets, bottled water at any time of the day or night, stocked mini bar, cool wet towels after a day out in the heat, and refreshing drinks to cool down.
Professional, Friendly and Attentive Leaders
Our Concierge leads the way and coordinates with local guides to ensure that the trip is hassle free. On this program, we had a tour manager named Phiem who is experienced, having lead tourists on our itinerary for 7 years. He was complimented by a local expert from Cambodia named Chanta and then in Vietnam, Hai. Both gentlemen had dutifully prepared for our members and had a lot of insight to the places we visited. Chanta in particular had escaped the Khmer Rouge as a young child and shared his personal story. Our members felt a personal connection with all of the locals and it was sad to say farewell.
Comfortable Transportation
Spacious, air-conditioned vehicles are also standards for an exceptional vacation experience.
However, we also enjoyed various vehicles ranging from Tuk Tuk to Ox Cart and everything in between. And if you were worried about eating all the delicious food while on vacation and how that will affect your figure, not to worry; you can walk as much as you want (5 to 10,000 steps a day)
Impeccable Timing
It’s never fun seeing crowded sites with throngs of tourists; many cities seem to be overwhelmed with visitors these days.
Our curated program is designed to give us access to the main sites at the most opportune times so that we minimize the crowds and get that perfect photo opportunities that make it look like we are the only ones there. We’re always one step ahead of everyone else and often times had an exclusive event that was reserved just for us.
For example, we experienced a perfect photo opportunity during sunrise at the Angkor Wat temple in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Our local expert knew exactly what time to arrive and where to gather for a unique spot that was very appreciated by even the most experienced photographer in our group.
Finally, we always choose a pleasant season for our members to travel so that they enjoy the best that a destination has to offer without suffering the consequences of off season weather.
There is so much more to tell but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Please check out our Facebook album to get a glimpse of how amazing this was for our exclusive group of 20 singles over 50 in Vietnam and Cambodia.
Fun!
Wherever we go, having fun is a top priority and once members feel safe, secure and the details are handled, it’s easy to relax and let your hair down. Theme parties are a great way to get to know one another and are wonderful backgrounds for the best photos. This time we celebrated the Autumn Moon Festival and wearing read and gold is supposed to bring us prosperity, joy and happiness and our night time arrival into Saigon made for the perfect backdrop.
Having the ship to ourselves (on our singles only charter) also made it easy to custom design our evenings aboard ship. We had movie nights with popcorn and danced many a night away to our favorite tunes of our era!
